Video Pat Lambie Rhyno Smith Collision 2017- Should Patrick Lambie retire? Repeated concussions

If you’re a Sharks fan, you’d be hoping that Beterridge’s law of headlines should apply to the question asked above. But it is a serious one, given all the concussion and head knock related issues surrounding the sport currently.

Lambie’s career has looked to be in the balance after being pole-axed by CJ Stander last year. Given his style of playing- Lambie is a player who likes to take the ball to the line, instead of shovelling it along from deep, and unlike some other flyhalves, he is a more than capable defender, which means he makes his fair share of tackles instead of being hidden at wing, being afraid to take contact reduces his effectiveness on the field severely.

With Curwin Bosch off with the Baby Boks, Lambie was called back (perhaps too early in our opinion) to lead the side against the Kings, and suffered this sickening accident with his OWN full back Rhyno Smith. If it was a one off, it would perhaps be no issue- but given Lambie’s history of knocks, this could be a real cause for concern. He left the field soon after and was replaced for the rest of the game by Garth April.

Pat’s been a great servant of Sharks rugby, and we wish him the very best.

The Sharks have never had a full season of Lambie in his prime available to them, and this perhaps, is one of the reasons they’ve never won Super Rugby despite being coming close in recent years. Jaguares vs Sharks Super Rugby Review- Sharks become first side to win in Argentina in 2017

The Sharks became the first team to win in Argentina in Super Rugby this season when they got the better of the Jaguares. The reverse fixture at Kings Park earlier this season had been a tight one, and given the disastrous performance that the Sharks produced at home against the Rebels (9-9 draw that would be a sure contender for one of THE worst games in SR history), few expected them to brave the odds and win in Buenos Aires.

However, it’s become a bit of a habit for the Sharks to buck the trend in recent times- they play well against top class opposition and make a hash of games against easier teams. And that’s what precisely happened in Argentina. The Sharks were aided by some changes by coach Rob du Preez to the starting XI- starting prop Thomas du Toit had a stormer of a game (MOTM in our opinion) and veteran Michael Claassens had a better game than Cobus Reinach, whose mind unfortunately already seems to be in England Continue reading “Jaguares vs Sharks Super Rugby Review- Sharks become first side to win in Argentina in 2017”

Andre Esterhuizen tackle on Sefa Naivalu in Sharks-Rebels 2017 | Esterhuizen red card Video

This bad Andre Esterhuizen tackle on Naivalu saw the Sharks inside centre being sent off in their clash against the Rebels at Kings Park.

The Klerksdorp born No.12 has been an influential figure for the Sharks over the last couple of seasons after the departure of Frans Steyn and has formed a formidable centre pairing with Lukhanyo Am. He’s practically been playing non stop for the Sharks in the last year- the fans were asking for him to take a break, but perhaps not this way!

Esterhuizen has been banned for six weeks for this challenge Continue reading “Andre Esterhuizen tackle on Sefa Naivalu in Sharks-Rebels 2017 | Esterhuizen red card Video”

Video Curwin Bosch penalty kick vs Golden Lions Super Rugby 2017- Monster 62m penalty from 19 year old

Here is a MONSTER penalty kick from young Sharks back Curwin Bosch against the Emirates Lions for the Natal Sharks in their Super Rugby clash in April 2017. Bosch, 19, nailed this 60m+ kick with ease. Aided mildly by the altitude at Ellis Park, but a fantastic kick nevertheless from the teenager Continue reading “Video Curwin Bosch penalty kick vs Golden Lions Super Rugby 2017- Monster 62m penalty from 19 year old”
