Springbok Chris Badenhorst son- Dian Badenhorst (Free State Cheetahs)

Former Springbok winger Chris Badenhorst’s son Dian took the field today for the Free State Cheetahs against the Natal Sharks in their Currie Cup game (on 2 September, 2017). Dian was the replacement scrumhalf for Free State today, and replaced former Baby Bok JP Smith in the second half.

Currie Cup Final 2016 attendance- Free State Cheetahs vs Blue Bulls Crowd in Bloemfontein

The Currie Cup 2016 final between Free State and the Blue Bulls, played in Bloemfontein on 22 October, 2016 attracted an official crowd of 43,400 as per data released by broadcaster Supersport during the game. FS won the game 36-16.

Free State v Golden Lions and Blue Bulls v WP have been confirmed as the two semifinals for the 2016 Currie Cup following an exciting last round of fixtures that saw the Lions battle past the Sharks at Ellis Park and WP squeak a victory over Boland.

The Lions trailed 10-0 to the Sharks at the break but a timely yellow card to Francois Kleinhans saw them stage a second half revival and their superior fitness proved advantageous in the last 20 minutes of the rarefied atmosphere in Johannesburg.
