Harlequins have announced the signing of South African flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis from Montpellier. The No.10, who is currently part of the large South African contingent at MHRC, will link up with Quins from next season. No details regarding the duration of the contract was announced.
Catrakilis was part of the Montpellier side that beat Quins in the European Challenge Cup in May earlier this year. He is a prolific goal kicker but his attacking abilities are considered to be a little limited in his native South Africa, where he has represented both the Kings and Stormers in Super Rugby
Quins were in the market for a new No.10 with the imminent retirement of Nick Evans, while Montpellier are said to be close to the capture of Aaron Cruden from the Waikato Chiefs.
