South African No.8 Duane Vermuelen suffered a nasty injury after being knocked out in a clash with France fullback Maxime Medard in the recent Top 14 clash between Toulon and Toulouse. Bok No.8 Vermuelen tried to prevent Medard from scoring a try, but was out cold following the clash.

Dylan Sage Doug Hopwood related- newest Blitzbok is Bok No.8’s grandson

The South African rugby sevens (Blitbzokke) team’s newest debutant Dylan Sage, who made his bow in the just concluded 2015 Cape Town 7’s, is the grandson of legendary Bok No.8 Doug Hopwood, who played 22 tests for the national side, and made his name on their tour to the UK in 1961. Hopwood had three children (one son, two daughters) and worked for South African Breweries after his retirement
