The South African rugby sevens (Blitbzokke) team’s newest debutant Dylan Sage, who made his bow in the just concluded 2015 Cape Town 7’s, is the grandson of legendary Bok No.8 Doug Hopwood, who played 22 tests for the national side, and made his name on their tour to the UK in 1961. Hopwood had three children (one son, two daughters) and worked for South African Breweries after his retirement
Both Sage and Hopwood are Wynberg (WBHS) alumni. Confirmed by the official SARU twitter account.
Not too dissimilar to Jan Pickard and Francois Louw, who are also grandfather and grandson.
